At Fudpucker’s restaurants, virtually no surface is off-limits to those who want to leave their mark behind by writing their names on the walls, tables, chairs, ceiling, and, well, you get the idea…But graffiti wasn’t part of the original founders’ plan.
In 1983, right after the first Fudpucker’s restaurant opened on Okaloosa Island, the University of Alabama was out for Spring Break and some of their students were visiting the area. They found Fudpucker’s, celebrated at the beachside bar and wrote their names on the walls to commemorate the experience. Restaurant owners Chester Kroeger (aka Father Fud) and Tim Edwards spent hours trying to remove the graffiti from their freshly painted walls. And then they decided…if people wanted to leave their names on the walls of the establishment, they should let them! And so it began…
For over 33 years now Fudpucker’s visitors have left their mark on the walls at Fudpucker’s restaurants and many of our patrons come back year after year to point them out. We love to hear people recounting old memories at Fudpucker’s, and often hear customers reminiscing about past visits, “Look, over there, that was the summer we…”.
At Fudpucker’s we are proud to be a part of your vacation experience, and we invite you to join the Fudpucker’s family by writing YOUR name on our walls while you’re here!
