Fudpucker’s is proud to announce a brand new dinner show at our Okaloosa Island Entertainment complex and Restaurant. Beginning December 28th, Maximum Magic star Noah Wells is bringing his talent to the Destin/Fort Walton Beach area. We recently sat down with Noah and his lovely assistant, Heather, to learn more about this award-winning showman and to hear more about his fantastic dinner show. See what the magician had to say:
Question: So, the dinner show at Fudpucker’s on Okaloosa Island will be like the show at Gulf World and the Holiday Inn in Panama City, correct?
Noah: Well, the size of the show will be more similar to our show at the Holiday Inn. The feel of the show will be more like our namesake show, Maximum Magic, at Gulf World. We will do grand illusions and special effects, we will do mentalism, there will be a lot of comedy, there will be a lot of audience participation. Those elements were the strongest at our show in Gulf World, and those elements will be over here as well. We are working on a transition and this may be the first time we do 6 or more new illusions that we have never done before.
Question: Is there anything you know, specifically that you will be bring to Fudpucker’s on the Island?
Noah: I can’t promise anything just yet, but we are in the process of taking inventory of the various illusions that we do. But the idea here is that we would, probably by next summer when the show is in full swing, that we would be able to implement this. We would have several classic routines that have been seen in our Maximum Magic show. We would have the ‘Sawing Woman in Half’, we would have the ‘Levitation of a Woman’, some of those elements that tend to stick out the most when people think of a magic show. We want to make sure we have those elements as a steady part of the show that we do here at Fudpucker’s.
Question: Is there anything in particular that you are excited about with coming to the new venue?
Noah: Well, we are adding the element of dinner, so that’s a great thing that Fudpucker’s is going to be giving them a fantastic dinner option to go with the show. So people will be able to come and have a really great time and a great meal, they’ll see some really great illusions that we’ve perfected with Maximum Magic, as well as several new elements. As I said, we are planning several new things for 2017.
Question: Throughout your tenure here, will you periodically adjust the show to keep it different?
Noah: I think so. You know, in the grander scheme of things, we do make changes to the show every year because we get very high repeat business. We have people that come to our shows every year when they visit the area and we are very thankful for that, so because of that we do try to change the show from year to year. But of course, with this new venue, we will absolutely be making some changes, tweaking the show, to where it needs to go. We are starting shows regularly on March 13th and will tweak some things as we go, but generally, by the time Memorial Day weekend gets here, at that point the show won’t change too much for the run of the summer, but between March and the end of May, we will get it to where it is a very well-oiled machine and we have everything the way that we want it to be.
Question: How long will the shows run at Fudpucker’s on Okaloosa Island?
Noah: It will be a one hour show. They’ll get 30 or 40 minutes before the show to eat dinner and then the show itself will be one solid hour of action-packed magic and comedy and audience participation.
Question: Will your wife Heather, who has typically been your assistant, be your assistant in the show?
Noah: She is the co-star of the show. Heather is really the mentalist of the show, so any of the mentalism, which really gets into your brain, that’s her job. Her signature act is where she is blindfolded and she is able to see things and know things that the audience holds up without the use of her eyes.
Question: We know that you have won quite a few awards in the Magic world. Can you tell us about some of those different accolades?
Noah: Some of those that are the most important to us, in 2011 and 2012, we won the Merlin Award for Illusionist of the Year, which is a pretty phenomenal feat to win two years in a row. The Merlin Award is one of the highest awards given in the field of magic. It’s kind of like the Oscar or the Emmy of the industry. Other people that have won the award are people like Chris Angel and David Copperfield and Penn and Teller, so we were very thankful to be recognized that way in the magic industry. We’ve also, two years in a row with TripAdvisor, won their certificate of excellence award. We have around 200 reviews on TripAdvisor with a 5-star average rating, so we’re very proud of that as well.
We want to give our thanks to Noah Wells for sitting down with us, and to welcome him to Fudpucker’s and to the Destin/Fort Walton Beach area. We hope that our guests will check out our new dinner show and get a taste of Maximum Magic.
