Why a State of the Union Address?
The concept for a State of the Union address, as laid out in Article II, Section 3, Clause I of the Constitution, states that the president:
shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient.
This year’s address will be the country’s 95th in-person Annual Message/State of the Union Address given by Presidents of the United States before Joint Sessions of Congress. (From 1801-1913, and in 1945, the President sent separate, written annual messages to the House and Senate, instead of an in-person address.)
The President’s address is followed by the Opposition Party’s Response which will be delivered this year by Rep. Joe Kennedy, D-Mass.
Room fee waived. Food/Drink purchase required.
$5 minimum donation to the Republican Party of Okaloosa County required when entering.
